assimilated
Blended into whole
Assimilated describes something that has been absorbed into a larger whole, losing its distinct identity.
Immigrants who have assimilated adopt the language, customs, and values of their new country: a fully assimilated second generation.
In biology, nutrients are assimilated when the body absorbs and incorporates them.
The word often carries undertones of cultural loss—what was distinctive has been subsumed: The neighborhood's ethnic character faded as residents assimilated into the suburbs.
