chestguard
Protective torso covering
A chestguard is protective gear worn over the torso, typically in sports or combat.
Fencers wear chestguards under their jackets, archers use them to keep clothing clear of the bowstring, and martial artists wear them during sparring.
The term also applies to armor pieces in video games and fantasy settings: The chestguard gave +15 defense.
