cervical collar

Spine immobilization device

A cervical collar is a medical device worn around the neck to stabilize the cervical spine—the vertebrae of the neck.

Rigid collars immobilize the neck after trauma or surgery; soft foam collars provide support for minor injuries or muscle strain.

Also called a neck brace: The paramedics put him in a cervical collar before moving him.
