carryover

What persists forward

Carryover is something that persists or transfers from one period, situation, or context into another.

In accounting and taxes, a carryover is an amount—such as a loss or unused credit—that can be applied to a future year's calculations.

More generally, it describes any remnant or continuation: The tension in the room was a carryover from yesterday's argument.

As a modifier, it describes things retained beyond their original timeframe: carryover funds, carryover inventory.
