cameraphone

Calls and captures

A cameraphone is a mobile phone with a built-in camera.

The term emerged in the early 2000s when phone cameras were novel features worth naming.

As cameras became standard in virtually all phones, the word grew redundant—now used mainly when discussing that transitional era or emphasizing photographic capability: The first cameraphones had terrible resolution.
