bondsmen
Those legally bound
Bondsmen is the plural of bondsman, a person who provides bail for someone accused of a crime—guaranteeing the defendant's appearance in court by pledging money or property.
Bail bondsmen charge a fee, typically ten percent of the bail amount.
Historically, a bondsman was also a person bound in servitude, essentially a male slave or serf: The bondsmen worked the fields from dawn to dusk.
