bail bondsman

Pretrial release arranger

A bail bondsman is a person who posts bail on behalf of criminal defendants who cannot afford to pay the full amount themselves.

The defendant or their family pays the bondsman a nonrefundable fee—typically ten percent of the bail—and the bondsman guarantees the court the full amount if the defendant fails to appear.

The bail bondsman tracked down clients who skipped their court dates.
