bondholder

Fixed-income investor

A bondholder is someone who owns bonds—debt securities issued by governments or corporations.

When you buy a bond, you're lending money to the issuer in exchange for periodic interest payments and eventual return of the principal.

Bondholders are creditors, not owners, so in bankruptcy they get paid before stockholders: Bondholders recovered sixty cents on the dollar.
