debtor
Person in arrears
A debtor is a person or entity that owes money to another.
The term appears most often in legal and financial contexts: The debtor defaulted on the loan.
A debtor may owe money through loans, credit purchases, or court judgments.
The opposite is a creditor—the one owed money.
