body-shaming

Mocking physical appearance

Body-shaming is criticizing or mocking someone for their physical appearance, especially their weight or shape.

The term emerged alongside growing awareness of how such comments—whether about being "too fat," "too thin," or otherwise failing to meet idealized standards—can damage self-esteem and mental health: She called out the magazine for body-shaming celebrities.

Often appears as a verb: Stop body-shaming yourself.
