boatlifting
Stealing watercraft whole
Boatlifting is the mass evacuation of people by boat, especially in emergencies.
The term gained currency from the 1980 Mariel boatlift, when over 125,000 Cubans fled to Florida.
It echoes airlift but substitutes watercraft: The boatlifting of refugees continued through the night.
