blowguns

Breath-powered weapons

Blowguns are long, narrow tubes through which darts or projectiles are propelled by a sharp breath.

Traditionally used for hunting and warfare by indigenous peoples of South America and Southeast Asia, the darts are often tipped with poison.

Modern versions appear as toys or sporting equipment: The kids played with blowguns in the backyard.
