blind arcade
Arches against walls
A blind arcade is a row of arches applied to a wall as decoration rather than functioning as openings.
The arches are "blind" because they don't pierce through—they're attached flush against a solid surface.
Common in Romanesque and Gothic architecture, blind arcades add visual rhythm and depth to otherwise plain walls: The cathedral's exterior featured an elegant blind arcade along the nave.
