beetles
Ladybugs and weevils
Beetles are insects with hard wing covers that protect the delicate flight wings beneath.
They form the largest order of insects, ranging from tiny grain beetles to massive rhinoceros beetles.
The word also serves as a verb meaning to scurry or move quickly: She beetled off to answer the phone.
Beetle brows are heavy, overhanging eyebrows. (Capitalized Beatles is the British rock band.)
