click beetle
Self-righting jumping bug
A click beetle is an elongated beetle that, when placed on its back, can right itself by snapping a spine on its thorax into a groove, producing an audible click and launching the insect into the air.
The mechanism serves as both an escape reflex and a way to flip over.
Their larvae, called wireworms, are agricultural pests.
