wood-boring
Chewing through lumber
Wood-boring describes insects, larvae, or other organisms that tunnel into wood, feeding on it or using it for shelter.
Beetles, termites, and certain wasps are common wood-boring pests that damage trees and timber structures.
The term also applies to tools designed to drill holes in wood: a wood-boring bit.
