beatboxer

Human rhythm machine

A beatboxer is a person who creates percussion sounds, drum patterns, and musical rhythms using only their mouth, lips, tongue, and voice.

The practice emerged from hip-hop culture in the 1980s as a way to provide beats without instruments: The beatboxer laid down a rhythm while the rapper freestyled.
