Every-combatant-for-themselves fight
A battle royal is a fight involving multiple participants all competing against each other simultaneously, with the last one standing declared the winner.
The term originated in cockfighting and boxing but now appears frequently in professional wrestling and video games.
It also describes any chaotic, all-against-all conflict or heated dispute: The budget meeting turned into a battle royal.
The plural is battles royal or battle royals.
