backrooms
Behind-the-scenes spaces
The backrooms are hidden or private areas where real decisions get made, away from public scrutiny: The deal was struck in the backrooms of Congress.
Backroom as an adjective describes such secretive dealings: backroom negotiations, backroom politics.
In internet lore, the Backrooms are a creepypasta concept—an infinite maze of empty, liminal spaces resembling generic office interiors, supposedly accessible by "noclipping" out of reality.
