axletree
Carriage wheel support
An axletree is a fixed bar or beam connecting two wheels of a cart, wagon, or carriage, with the wheels rotating around its ends.
The term is largely historical, replaced in modern usage by simply axle: The axletree cracked under the weight of the load.
