aviate
Operate an airplane
To aviate is to fly an aircraft—to pilot or operate it.
The word is somewhat formal or technical, more common in aviation contexts than everyday speech: Student pilots learn to aviate, navigate, and communicate.
Aviate can also mean simply to travel by air, though this use is rare.
