barnstorming

Itinerant exhibition performing

Barnstorming originally described touring theatrical troupes performing in rural barns and makeshift venues.

In early aviation, it meant pilots doing stunt flying at county fairs—loops, dives, wing-walking—often literally landing in farmers' fields.

Now barnstorming most commonly describes politicians making rapid campaign stops across many locations: a barnstorming tour of swing states.

The word suggests energetic, showy performance wherever you go.
