artificial limb
Manufactured body part
An artificial limb is a prosthetic device that replaces a missing arm, leg, hand, or foot.
Modern artificial limbs range from simple cosmetic replacements to sophisticated mechanical or electronic devices that restore significant function: Her new artificial limb allowed her to run again.
The term is slightly more formal than prosthetic or prosthesis.
