tidal amplitude
Ocean's vertical swing
Tidal amplitude is the vertical distance between a tide's midpoint and its high or low extreme—essentially half the total tidal range.
Oceanographers and coastal engineers use the term when measuring tidal forces and predicting water levels: The tidal amplitude here exceeds three meters during spring tides.
