An ammo dump is a military storage site for ammunition and explosives.
The term combines ammo (short for ammunition) with dump in its sense of a place where things are deposited in bulk.
Ammo dumps are strategic targets in warfare: The airstrike hit an ammo dump, triggering secondary explosions.
