dumps
Landfills accept garbage
Dumps is a state of low spirits or depression, appearing almost exclusively in the phrase down in the dumps: He's been down in the dumps since he lost his job.
The word has no singular form in this sense—you're never in just one dump.
Separately, dumps is the plural of dump (a place for discarding waste, or an act of dumping).
