peace zone
Designated calm region
A peace zone is a designated area where conflict, violence, or hostility is suspended or prohibited.
The term applies to regions declared off-limits to military operations, neighborhoods where rival gangs agree to cease fighting, or spaces established for neutral dialogue: The community center was declared a peace zone during the riots.
Schools and hospitals are sometimes designated peace zones in conflict areas to protect civilians.
