alumnae

Women who graduated

Alumnae is the plural of alumna, a female graduate or former student of a school, college, or university.

This Latin plural follows the pattern where feminine nouns ending in -a take the -ae ending in the plural.

While alumna and alumnae remain in use, particularly at women's colleges and in formal contexts, the gender-neutral alumni or alums has become more common in general usage.

The alumnae of Wellesley gathered for their reunion.
