An air terminal is a building at an airport where passengers check in, board aircraft, and collect luggage—essentially synonymous with airport terminal.
The term also has a technical meaning in electrical systems, referring to a metal rod or conductor designed to intercept lightning strikes, typically mounted on the highest point of a structure to protect it from lightning damage.
