aerodromes
British landing strips
Aerodromes is the plural of aerodrome, a somewhat formal or British term for a place where aircraft take off and land.
The word covers everything from small grass airstrips to major airports, though it tends to evoke older or smaller facilities: The flying club operates out of a modest aerodrome outside town.
In American English, airport and airfield are more common.
