Far East
Pacific Rim region
The Far East is the region of eastern Asia, typically including China, Japan, Korea, and neighboring countries.
The term reflects a European perspective—far from Europe.
It appears in historical and some contemporary contexts but has been largely replaced by East Asia or Asia-Pacific in formal usage: trade routes to the Far East, Far Eastern cuisine.
