Tiberias

Sea of Galilee

Tiberias is a city on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee in Israel, one of Judaism's four holy cities.

Founded in the first century CE and named for the Roman emperor Tiberius, it became a center of Jewish scholarship after the destruction of Jerusalem.

Today it functions as a resort town and pilgrimage destination: We visited the hot springs at Tiberias.
