Three Musketeers

Famous swordsmen quartet

The Three Musketeers are characters from Alexandre Dumas's 1844 novel—Athos, Porthos, and Aramis—who befriend the young d'Artagnan.

Their motto "all for one and one for all" has become shorthand for loyal camaraderie.

Any trio of close allies may be called three musketeers: Those three have been inseparable since college—the three musketeers.
