Stuka
Screaming German warplane
Stuka was a German dive bomber used extensively by the Luftwaffe during World War II.
The name is short for *Sturzkampfflugzeug* (dive-bombing aircraft).
The Stuka became notorious for its terrifying siren—mounted on the landing gear—which wailed during dives to demoralize those below.
It symbolized the speed and terror of blitzkrieg warfare.
