bombsight

Aerial aiming instrument

A bombsight is a device used in aircraft to aim bombs at ground targets.

It calculates the release point based on altitude, airspeed, and wind conditions.

The Norden bombsight, used extensively in World War II, was so classified that bombardiers were sworn to destroy it rather than let it fall into enemy hands.
