Sino-Tibetan

Eastern language family

Sino-Tibetan is a major language family of Asia, including Chinese, Tibetan, Burmese, and hundreds of related languages spoken from China through Southeast Asia.

The term combines Sino- (Chinese) with Tibetan to name the family's two most prominent branches.

Sino-Tibetan languages are spoken by more people than any family except Indo-European.
