Shadrach

Babylonian fire escapee

Shadrach is a biblical figure, one of three young Hebrew men—along with Meshach and Abednego—cast into a fiery furnace by Nebuchadnezzar for refusing to worship a golden idol.

They emerged unharmed, making the trio a symbol of faith under persecution.

The names often appear together as a set phrase: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

Shadrach also survives as a rare given name.
