idolaters
Worshippers of icons
Idolaters are people who worship idols—images or objects as representations of gods.
The term extends to anyone who reveres something excessively: idolaters of wealth, idolaters of celebrity.
Religious contexts use it pejoratively for those who worship false gods or elevate anything above the true deity.
Also spelled idolators.
