STIs
Transmitted through intimacy
STIs is the plural of STI, an abbreviation for sexually transmitted infection—diseases passed through sexual contact.
The term has largely replaced STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) in medical contexts, since many conditions like HPV or chlamydia may show no symptoms: Get tested regularly for STIs.
Common STIs include herpes, gonorrhea, syphilis, and HIV.
