trichomoniasis

Protozoan venereal infection

Trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by a microscopic parasite called Trichomonas vaginalis.

It affects the urogenital tract and is one of the most common curable STIs worldwide.

Symptoms may include itching, burning, unusual discharge, and discomfort during urination or sex, though many infected people show no symptoms at all.

The infection is easily treated with antibiotics, typically metronidazole or tinidazole.
