78 RPM
Grandpa's music format
78 RPM refers to the rotational speed of early phonograph records—78 revolutions per minute.
These shellac discs dominated recorded music from the 1890s through the 1950s, before vinyl LPs and 45s replaced them.
Each side held only three to five minutes of audio.
Collectors and vintage audio enthusiasts still seek out 78s: He found a stack of old 78s in his grandmother's attic.
