Pied Piper
Legendary vermin charmer
A pied piper is someone who attracts followers, often toward something harmful or foolish.
The term comes from a German legend: a piper in multicolored clothing lured rats from a town with his music, then, when the townspeople refused payment, led their children away forever.
Tech founders can be pied pipers, drawing investors into doomed ventures.
The implication is usually negative—charm masking danger.
