charcoal briquettes
Barbecue heat source
Charcoal briquettes are compressed blocks of charite dust and additives, designed to burn slowly and evenly for outdoor grilling.
Unlike lump charcoal, which consists of irregular pieces of carbonized wood, briquettes are uniform in shape and size, making them predictable for cooking.
They typically require lighter fluid or a chimney starter to ignite and take longer to reach cooking temperature, but they maintain steady heat for extended periods.
I prefer briquettes for low-and-slow barbecue.
