Moghul

Subcontinent dynasty member

Moghul is a variant spelling of Mughal, referring to the Muslim dynasty that ruled much of India from the 16th to 19th centuries, or to a member of that ruling class.

Extended to mean any powerful person, especially in business or entertainment: a media moghul, Hollywood moghuls.

The spelling mogul is now more common for both senses.
