Millerites

Second Coming believers

Millerites were followers of William Miller, an American Baptist preacher who predicted Christ's return in 1843–44.

When the prophecy failed—an event called the Great Disappointment—the movement splintered.

Some Millerites went on to form the Seventh-day Adventist Church and other Adventist denominations.

The term now refers to this historical group rather than any active movement.
