postmillennialism

Golden-age-first theology

Postmillennialism is a Christian eschatological view holding that Christ will return after a golden age of Christian influence on earth—the millennium—rather than before it.

Unlike premillennialism, which expects Christ to establish the kingdom personally, postmillennialism sees human progress and gospel expansion gradually bringing about this era: Postmillennialism was more popular before the World Wars dimmed optimism about human progress.
