78s
Gramophone record format
78s are phonograph records designed to play at 78 revolutions per minute, the standard speed for commercial recordings from the 1890s through the late 1950s.
Made of shellac rather than vinyl, they were heavier and more brittle than later formats.
The term now evokes vintage music and record collecting: My grandfather's 78s are still in the attic.
