indie artists
Label-free creative talents
Indie artists are musicians, filmmakers, or other creative people who work outside major corporate labels or studios.
The term comes from "independent," emphasizing creative control and self-direction over commercial backing.
In music especially, indie suggests a particular aesthetic—often raw, alternative, or uncommercial—even when the artist has label support: She's been streaming indie artists all week.
