Lucite is a brand name for a transparent acrylic plastic, often used generically for any clear plastic of similar appearance.
It's lightweight, shatter-resistant, and glass-like: a Lucite coffee table, Lucite heels.
The material became popular in mid-twentieth-century furniture and jewelry design for its sleek, modern look.
