lucid interval
Brief mental clarity
A lucid interval is a period of mental clarity between episodes of confusion, unconsciousness, or insanity.
In medicine, it often describes the dangerous window of alertness after a head injury before symptoms worsen: She seemed fine during the lucid interval, then collapsed.
In law, a lucid interval may allow someone otherwise incompetent to make a valid will or contract.
